Tell us who you are!
Hi, I’m Janine, German, 42 years old and live in a small town called Essen, middle of Germany.
I started my career with an apprenticeship in the hotel business dreaming of foreign countries and cultures. This dream never left so I canceled my well paid job with 27 years and did one year Work & Travel in Australia.
Coming back I decided to work for a german direct selling company and to study marketing communications economist and business economist in evening classes (to study a further wish I always had). A couple of years later I became Head of Marketing for this company and was responsible for the german market as well as a crew of 15 members (sales, customer, product marketing).
But after 10 years working for the same company I had the feeling that I have to chance again. I reflected with support of different coaches, people I worked with and friends what is special about me. And their answer was “you support people and teams to reach their goals and fulfill their dreams.”
Since 2014 I am working now as a Trainer for communication & Facilitator of workshops and projects. Furthermore I started in 2015 to work as a Systemic Business Coach and to build up my own business.
What makes you successful in life/current job?
What you may have noticed I am a person that reflects always her own life and wishes. That is not always easy, but worth the effort. And I think this is what makes me successful.
If you know who you are and what you want nothing can really stop you. You just have to adjust your way sometimes, be patiently and persistent and keep your eyes and ears open.
What skills, experiences or incidences helped you to get you to where you are today? What hindered?
To be yourself and to go your way is often not easy because people around us tend to tell us what is possible or not, what is allowed or not. But I decided that is always their opinion and not mine.
I listen to them carefully, but also to myself. I try to discover what are their expectations and what are mine and what is the way I want to go. And for sure I do mistakes. Then I stop, cry and shout or go jogging and after a while I start again.
On the other hand it is very important to listen to the opinion of other people or to take their support. In my life I met a couple of people who have accompanied me on my way and helped me to be successful or to reflect situations.
What are your aspirations as a 1World Mentor for the 1World Social Capital Program?
And this is the reason why I am taking part as a 1World Mentor in this program. I would like to give back some of the support I’ve got.
My wish is to support a person, who wants to create her own life actively and needs someone who is asking the right questions and invites to change perspectives.
I would like to give a trustworthy space for serious moments as well as a lot of fun.
Looking forward to meet you.
