Tell us who you are!
I am Lebanese by birth, Canadian citizen who has been living in the Gulf for the past 10 years. I have one son who is 25 years old and who happens to work with me. I have spent the past 25 years of my career life (out of 49) mainly in the Insurance Industry. They say people travel to work, I say I work to travel 🙂 other than travelling I have a passion to Coach and Mentor. I was 24 years old when I started my own brokerage company in Lebanon. I have found recently that women empowerment is my core calling. I truly believe that “If you can dream it you can make it”.
Where are you now?
Until a year ago I was the first and only female in Qatar that was the GM of an Insurance company when I was working with Allianz Medgulf Takaful. Currently I am the CEO of AlSahar Insurance, one of two companies only that were directly licensed by the Central Bank of Qatar. And the CEO of Mena Insurance brokers in Lebanon.
What does “Social Capital” mean to you?
Capital is commonly known as the asset we invest in making business. Falsely enough the common understanding was that only money can be the Capital. Finally the best practices came to realize that investing in people pays off much better and the term was changed from Human resources to Social Capital.
What makes you successful in what you do?
I always believed that people are successful in what they do because one of two things: either because they are good at what they do or because they are passionate about what they do. Moreover to me it was always “If anyone can do it why cant I”.
What are your aspirations for your 1World Mentee?
We were all born resourceful, creative and complete. Nothing on earth would be more rewarding to me than helping a passionate young female find her points of strength, guide her through my experience and see the positive transformation and quantum leap happen in her career life.
